Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3….

Ok, so, I have done all the preliminary stuff to set this up. I don’t know how this is going to work out, but isn’t that half the fun? I’m working on very little sleep, having attended the Dave Matthews Band concert in Brooklyn last night, getting back here around 4am, then waking up to be with the monsters today. The monsters, by the way, are my children. I don’t think I’ll use their real names, so I guess I should assign them “blog names.” Hmmm…Little Miss, my oldest, is 10. She’s currently homeschooled, using the Barton Reading Program. We had quite an issue with the public school. Apparently, dyslexia is no longer a recognized learning disability in New York, which sounds like horse hockey to me, but that statement (which I found out IS true), led to me pulling my unable-to-read child from public school to give her the kind of one-on-one attention that she will never receive in a classroom setting. It’s working, too…she really is making progress. BabyDoll and Buddy are my twins. They are almost 4, and such a handful!! After the holiday, I’ll be starting to get their evaluations done. Buddy is following RIGHT in Little Miss’ footsteps; he is just like she was at that age. BabyDoll is just stubborn and willful – I’m told she gets that from me. I love my kids; they are my life. However, I also work. I have a job that I LOVE, with co-workers that I think are phenomenal. I work an overnight shift, which makes the next day hard, but once the monsters are back in school, I may be able to switch to a day shift. And i have friends. Good friends, that I’ve known longer than my husband. Some are married, some have kids, some are single. It’s a great mix. And I am blessed to have them. I’ll be introducing them to you slowly, for now. There’s never a reason to rush, right? Half the fun is getting to know you…
